Cyanotypes
Who was Anna Atkins?
The cyanotype was used the most by Anna Atkins in her 12 part book British Algae. This was the first book ever to be created with photographs . Cyanotypes were the first ever kinds of photographs that did not require a camera.
What are the advantages of cyanotypes?
The cyanotype is cheap and easy to use. You don't need a darkroom or any complicated equipment. This is why artists are still using cyanotypes to make quite large and unusual photographs.

- Cyanotypes, We went out in the sun and used cyanotype paper to produce a picture without a camera. We made pictures like this with just cyanotype paper, sun, random objects, and water. Here is a example of my work.
Some examples of cyanotypes
For example, here is a picture of a flower which is a random object used to make a picture with just cyanotype paper,a random object, and the sun.

Picture 1:I began by using quite random objects. Which gave a unique effect. You can see the shadow cast by the scissors where the light has crept under the blades. However, there is not enough different angles or shape in the image to make it successful.

Picture 2:In my second attempt I wanted to use a darker material so I chose some cotton wheels. This picture is much better because you can see the real shape, and the shadows really stand out and show the 3d.
